We are an international group of firefly scientists and enthusiasts.

Our group has more than 200 members representing over 20 countries, including ecologists, chemists, geneticists, artists, and naturalists, brought together by a shared sense of wonder and delight in these bioluminescent beetles. We want to learn more about their unique biology, and work together to protect threatened species.

If you have a firefly related question, or would like to share an observation, please visit our Facebook group.

We are delighted to announce the 2025 International Firefly Symposium will be held in Tlaxcala, Mexico from July 29th to August 1st!

This scientific conference, held every three years, aims to 1) gather firefly researchers and conservationists from around the world to exchange knowledge and form collaborative partnerships, and 2) raise awareness and appreciation of fireflies across cultures by blending artistic and scientific perspectives on these amazing insects.
